Le Bureau d’Échange is an active installation, taking the form of an exchange kiosk where the artist invites visitors to produce a note that is then traded. The kiosk is saturated with information panels, objects, and notes issued by the artist, forming a reserve of value intrinsic to the device: an autonomous, fictional yet operative economy.
Through a simple negotiation protocol, the work shifts roles: the visitor becomes a participant, the artist a collector and merchant. The installation questions the mechanisms of valuation, exchange, and legitimation.
