“As my eyes scrutinized the subway and skyscrapers with the same passionate gaze, I kept stumbling upon treasures on every corner.
Afraid of forgetting something, I began collecting each object linked to a lived experience. Devoid of any commercial value, these items often result from consumption itself, remnants of obsolete moments and systems that have come to an end.
This book contains a selection from this collection. Each object has been meticulously scanned, creating a digital record that allows for future replication. Lost in this open air supermarket of objects, I pick, hunt, collect, scan, grab, and shop compulsively. My collections become selections, creating as many relationships with the world.
By surrounding myself with these objects, I've come to understand Roland Barthes comparing the industry to the construction of gothic cathedrals : "a great creation of its time, conceived with passion by unknown authors, consumed through their image, if not by entire communities who appropriate them."
